About
When I was not yet born, my mother would hold a tape recorder to her stomach and play music to me. I remember the sounds of Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach filling our home when I was a young child. Music was a part of our everyday life. As a family, we often sat around the piano at night singing some funny old songs like “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” and classic hymns like, “Amazing Grace”. We always sang in the car on long road trips. I sang while hanging clothes on the line. And I even trained my horse to “dance” to the rhythm of the songs I would play on a portable CD player. Every Christmas my parents took our family to hear Handel’s Messiah. And though my brother, Joseph, slept through it every time, my Mom always said that the music would still find a way into his soul. In second grade I began playing the piano. I remember teaching myself how to read notes on a staff by plunking out “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” A little while later my mother created an opportunity for me to take formal voice and piano lessons. I am so thankful to my mother for seeing the gift inside me and always encouraging and supporting me to live my dreams!
In 2005, we moved to beautiful Colorado Springs. While attending the Desperation conference at New Life church a few weeks after we moved, I decided that I wanted to sit down with God and have a little chat. So I told Him that I wanted Him to direct every part of my life. I wanted to be sure that I would quit trying to “take life into my own hands”, so instead I gave my life to Him as a sacrifice for Him to partner with me in whatever areas of life He desired to call me to. My relationship with my heavenly Father has grown very important to me. I don’t consider this relationship a religion, but rather a friendship with the lover of my soul. I thank God each day for giving me grace, hope, and perseverance.
During high school I sang in several choirs, an all girls a cappella group, with church worship teams and performed at several weddings. In 2008 I was invited to join OperaFestival Di Roma in Roma, Italy to sing in Suar Angelica and the Magic Flute with 50 other college and graduate students. I had a wonderful time soaking up all the sights, sounds, and music of the European culture. Still, there was something missing that I couldn’t put my finger on. I was singing with some of the best young vocalists, traveling, and learning a lot of the great old classics, but there was still something missing. I felt like I was not able to express who I was through other people’s music! Finally, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to gain the skill of an excellent musician, vocalist and pianist in order to create the sounds that I heard coming from within me and not just reproduce what someone else had written.
After studying as a vocal performance major at Belhaven University for two year under the instruction of Dr. Shelt I found myself asking the question “What do I really want to do with my music?” With my Mother’s blessing, I took a semester off of college. I had to discover what really fueled my passion for music. I needed the freedom to get out of the box, follow my heart, and start writing the music inside of me that I knew was God-inspired. I discovered that the greatest gift I can give God is to use the gifts that He has freely given me!
God has filled me with such joy! And I want others to know that each of us has a special gift from God. As we take the time to discover our gift and nurture them, our gifts will impact the world. If each of us is willing to work hard, never give up, keep our faith, and always forgive and love others, then we will truly live our dreams. My life’s motto is “Dream BIG and Live your Dreams”!
My very first CD, “Bringing Heaven to Earth”, is in the making and I can hardly wait to share it with you!
Each day I choose to live in the moment and allow my Savior, Jesus Christ, to direct my steps. I choose to step into the fullness of my Destiny! My greatest desire is to create a “New Sound”, a sound that is life-giving, encouraging, strengthening, and youthful. Join me in this journey!
Joyfully Yours,
Elizabeth Rose
In The Future: “The Destiny Project”
We have all been given a horizon with unlimited possibilities! With the gifts and talents that each person has been given, we are capable of creating a joyful lifestyle for ourselves, our family, and those around us. Imagine what can happen if each of us just serve those around us and find compassion for each beautiful soul!
My heart’s desire is to bring joy to others through music! I believe that today’s society has been shaped through music and different art forms that we are continually fed. At this time in history it is crucial for our society to be fed the kind of arts, entertainment, and media that is life-giving and morally sound. My goal is to reach out to people through music, the arts, and entertainment and provide them with healthy alternatives to the unhealthy media that is being produced at large today.
Since I was 15 years old I have had a vision for Destiny Institute, Ranch and Retreat Center. My dream for Destiny Institute, is to create a place where faith filled artists and musicians can come, feel free to express their gifts and receive instruction by on-site teachers in their area of expertise. Just imagine how the face of the arts would change if there were more people creating eye-opening, morally sound, excellent quality, music and other art forms! My desire for the students coming out of the Destiny Institute’s programs is that they would go into all parts of the world sharing their gifts through multiple venues of opportunity. My desire is to create an environment that will put life to other people’s dreams and make the seemingly impossible possible.
Realizing that Destiny Institute, Ranch and Retreat Center is a very large undertaking, I have begun the course of learning many things needed for the initial planning stages. I am looking to partner with people in this exciting adventure who have a passion for good music and a heart to leave a footprint that will change the course of history.
